So I landed the next morning (Thursday) in Amsterdam and cleared customs with no issues. It takes me a few minutes to learn out how to navigate the train/tram system in order to figure out how to get to where I was going. (luckily Dutch and English share some common roots to words, this was not expected)
the direction on the Hostel world app to my hostel had me taking a Tram that no longer exists (#9)
after asking for help I learned I had to take Tram Number 9 this got me within a 5min walk of my hostel
This 1st stop I would be staying at the Generator Hostel in Oosterpark
This hostel was larger than I expected. I check in and go for walk around town, check out the red light district (kinda underwhelming) where I see a guy wearing a Tigers' hat. So obviously I ask if he is from Detriot and he says yes, After s short conversation I find out that he and his sister are from Tecumseh (the neighbouring town to my him city of Windsor On). I head back to the hostel to see if there is anyone around I meet a few people, I do a Couple girls from Minnesota but they are not interested in going for drinks so I go along
This is where I met a Couple in their late 20s from Glasglow, they were great people (i forget their names but they cool), only hung for the one night.
The Next day I go for another walk and meet a Local in the park and have a long conversation with him Lars was his name ad he was good company.
On this night I decide to sign up for the pub crawl to make some new friends. It worked Kinda.
I actually met a couple guys (Alex from Argentina, Ned from Australia and Max from Findlan but currently lives in Berlin)
in the bar and talked them into coming on the pub crawl, we lost Alec at the second bar and met Arrow (another fin) who happened to be my roommate that weekend just before leaving
the four/five of hung for the next few days and developed a solid friends
Alec sold his Company in Argentina to travel
Max quit his job in Berlin and biked to Amsterdam (about 800Kms)
and Ned was on a 6week Vaca from work
Arrow was just on a short vaca to travel around Eupore
there were Many more ppl we met along the pub crawl a bunch of American students from Iowa (i think) Page, Sage, Morgan, and Bonner are the ones that stick out the most.
there were a couple more kids we met one was 6'11 (hard to missed) he and his buddies were pretty funny but didn't make past the 3rd bar on the pub crawl ( I don't seem to have photos of everyone met haha I guess my memory will have to do.).
The next day Alec and I were both up early (stupid jet lag) so went for a walk and Found a Brewery in a Windmill and grabbed an early lunch then went for a long walk over to Vondelpark (round trip about 15Km)
this was to be my last Night in Amsterdam but Ned and Max Talked me into staying
another to go see some sites the next day
So I stayed and we went to the Maritimes Museum and Modern art Museum
then shot some pool and went back to the hostel to watch the Canada Vs Finland Hockey game for
IIHF Gold medal
Not sure if I'm allowed to Share Photos from inside the museum so here is what I know I can
