So where to start my story?
I guess we can start with a little about who I am. I am Rob, I am Canadian and a pretty average guy in my late 30s, with a passion for the outdoors and music. I currently hold the title of an Automation Specialist with a specialty in Rockwell Services, Power and Control (Variable Frequency Drives, and Motor Control Center).
I will only hold this position with an amazing company for a short time longer as I have decided to make a major life change. This choice was extremely hard to make as I am pretty settled in life, A good Job, a nice House, and my own car, I built my 1st cedar strip canoe last year (I will post some photos and a short story on that in the near future), I am close with my family (father, brother, cousins, Step Mom, lost my mother a few years back to ALS) , a fair number of great friends and the people I work with are like family (that happens when you work with people for 11 years)
So what have I decided to do? Well to put it simply; I want to travel a bit and see the world.
I plan to hit all 7 continents and about a 1/3 of the countries in the world, then hike the Appalachian trail in the United States (3500km/2190miles) these are two very different trips and I am treating them as such. The 1st is to see the world, experience the culture and visit with friends, the second is one hell of a hike.
So today my company accepted my resignation (I put in about 3 weeks ago), the delay was caused as they asked me to rethink my decision, out of respect for my director I did but came to the same conclusion; this is the best thing for me at this time.
So I consider today the being of my journey...
